Who is Stan Void?
My real name is Stan Sprogis, and I'm a solo trance producer from
California, USA. I was born in 1984 and began producing only recently
in 2001. My music can be qualified as energetic upliftic trance that
focuses on melody above anything else.
Why did you decide
to enter the dancescene?
I have listened to albums like
Tranceport, John 00 Fleming's compilations, Ibiza compilations and I
fell in love. Then in high school, when everyone had to do a project
on something that they find interesting, I decided to try my hand at
producing trance. Producing really gives you a rush, when you finally
find that right combination of sounds late at night in the studio, and
you know you have something special right there -- it's a real high :)
So, What started out as a school project went on to become a serious
hobby for me.
You are based
in America, one of the biggest music-business related countries,
how's the trance-scene overthere lately?
I am lucky enough to be in one of the US states with the best dance
scenes - California. So trance definitely has a presence out here,
but it's still attracting only a minor crowd compared to the
popularity it has out in Europe. I think I like that for the better
though, because it makes the trance community out in the states more
special, more intimate. It's also great that the industry's Dj's
love coming out here and supporting the scene -- I've already seen
The Thrillseekers, AvB, Above&Beyond, Lange, Ferry, and others. And
I'm really excited to be seeing Precision and Tiesto in August 2005
as well!.
What is your opinion about nowadays trance-scene?
It's definitely evolving into something less melodic. Producers seem
to focus on making their tracks harder, louder, and more techy --
leaving melody and emotion behind more and more often. It's great to
have drive and energy in trance, but that can only get you so far
without emotion. Nevertheless, the people still support trance in
general, and that's what really matters. I only see parties and
raves getting more and more crowded, so whatever direction trance is
going in, it's certainly not dying!
What can we expect from you in the future?
More melodic trance releases, and hopefully Dj'ing too.
That's it for now!
